AgedCareAtlas

Finding the right aged care home is hard enough.

Most families start looking at the worst possible time — after a fall, a hospital discharge, or a slow decline that's suddenly reached a tipping point. You're trying to make one of the biggest decisions of your life, under pressure, in a system designed to be navigated by experts.

The official government tool asks 14 questions before it shows you anything. The existing directories are a decade out of date and full of sponsored listings. You end up making calls, sitting on hold, and piecing together information from three different websites.

We built AgedCareAtlas to do one thing well: show you what's available, in plain language, without the runaround.

What makes us different

The information other directories quietly omit

Government star ratings on every listing

We pull star ratings, accreditation status, and non-compliance history directly from the Australian government's own public register. If a facility has failed a safety audit, you'll see it — not discover it six months later.

Plain-English summaries, not blank pages

We read each facility's public website and extract what matters: care levels, room types, services, cultural and language fit, pet policies, visiting hours. Written in plain language, not marketing copy.

Side-by-side comparison

Select up to four homes and compare them on one screen. Location, care types, star rating, contact details — the fields that actually matter, side by side.

Free. No account. No sales calls.

We don't charge families to search. We don't pass your details to providers. We don't require sign-up. Browse as much as you like.

Where our data comes from

Every field on every listing has a source. We're transparent about what we know, when we last checked, and — critically — what we don't know.

Locations, contact details, and photos

Google Maps Platform. Refreshed periodically. We store a fetched_at timestamp on every record so you can see how current the information is.

Star ratings, compliance history, and accreditation

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) public register at agedcarequality.gov.au. This is the same data the government publishes — we surface it on every facility page so you don't have to go looking.

Descriptions, care levels, and services

Each facility's own public website, processed by an AI model (Google Gemini). We store the extraction date and the raw source URLs so you can verify anything we've written. If a facility hasn't published information about fees or services, we say "not publicly disclosed" — not silence.

Our commitments

What you can hold us to

  • No undisclosed paid placements. If a listing is ever "featured", it will be clearly labelled as such — always.
  • We don't sell your data. We don't collect personal information when you browse or search. No tracking pixels. No lead forms passed to providers.
  • We don't scrape locked data. Every source we use is publicly available and intended for public consumption. No logins, no paywalled systems.
  • We're honest about gaps. Enrichment data is being rolled out facility by facility. Some listings are fully populated; others are bare. We'd rather show you an empty field than a fabricated one.
  • Always free for families. The site is funded by unobtrusive display advertising. Families will never be charged to search, compare, or contact a provider.
