Yuelamu Aged Care Centre

12 Neymatey St, Yuelamu NT 0872, Australia

Yuelamu Aged Care Centre provides residential aged care for Aboriginal elders in the remote Yuelamu (Mount Allan) community, approximately 320 km north-west of Alice Springs in the Anmatjere country of the Northern Territory's Tanami Desert. Yuelamu is the home community of the Anmatjere people — a Warlpiri-speaking group whose ceremonial and cultural life is deeply connected to the Tanami Desert landscape — and the aged care centre enables elderly Anmatjere people to receive care on their Country, surrounded by family and the land that has shaped their lives. Providing care for Aboriginal elders on Country in one of Australia's most remote and culturally rich communities is a profound service that supports the continuity of Anmatjere culture and language.
