Hetti Perkins

Hetti Perkins is a residential aged care facility in Alice Springs operated by Ltyentye Apurte Catholic Mission, providing culturally appropriate aged care for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal elders in Central Australia's desert capital. The facility is named in honour of Hetti Perkins (née Kunoth), a celebrated Arrernte woman and pioneer of Aboriginal rights in Central Australia whose family story is deeply intertwined with the Arrernte people and the history of Alice Springs — her daughter Mildred Inkamala and granddaughter Hetti Perkins (the art curator) have continued this remarkable family's contribution to Australian cultural life. The facility provides residential care that respects and celebrates Arrernte and Central Australian Aboriginal culture in the heart of the Red Centre, supporting elders who have deep connections to the land around Alice Springs.
