Furlough House

Furlough House is a retirement village in Narrabeen, NSW, situated directly opposite Narrabeen surf beach and within easy walking distance of local shops and public transport. Established in 1918 as Australia's first patriotic establishment offering rest and respite to ex-servicemen and their families, it now comprises 81 self-contained units across several heritage apartment blocks and cottages accommodating up to 120 residents. The complex is set in well-maintained gardens and lawns, creating a pleasant holiday-home atmosphere. Residency is open exclusively to retired ex-service men and women and their immediate families who value independence, self-care, and a sense of community camaraderie rooted in shared service experience. This is an independent retirement living community only — no residential aged care or nursing services are provided on-site.
