Hawthorn House is a world-class day centre in Albany, Western Australia, built exclusively to support people living with dementia. The facility, established in 2014, has won awards including a Western Australian master builder award for best commercial building in the Great Southern. Don's Cottage, a newer $2 million facility, provides overnight respite care and doubles the capacity for short-term respite stays. Services include therapeutic activities such as music, quizzes, crafts, day trips, and socialising, with tea, refreshments, and hot meals provided throughout the day. The facility is designed as a warm, homelike environment focused on enrichment and wellbeing for people living with dementia.
