Eastern Palliative Care Ltd. (EPC) is a not-for-profit, free, community-based specialist palliative care service covering the Eastern Region of Melbourne, including the local government areas of Boroondara, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash, Whitehorse, Knox, and Yarra Ranges. Established in 1998, EPC is the largest single provider of community-based palliative care services in Victoria, supporting people with terminal or life-limiting illness in their last year of life. Care is delivered in clients' own homes — including residential aged care facilities — by a multidisciplinary team of specialist palliative care doctors, nurses, palliative support clinicians, social workers, psychologists, and bereavement counsellors, with specially trained volunteers also involved. EPC is fully accredited through the Australian Council on Health Care Standards and provides on-call nursing support outside business hours for urgent care and family reassurance. The service is provided at no cost to clients and is supported by the Victorian Government.
